How to add a Grok Bot template safely
Adding a template takes one click. Adding one you will not regret takes two minutes of reading. Here is what to check.
What happens when you add a template
A template is a public x.ai/bot link to someone's Bot setup. Adding it creates an independent copy on your account. The copy can include instructions, selected memories, skills, routines and first-party integrations. It never includes the creator's conversation history, signed-in sessions, API keys or private servers — you connect your own accounts afterwards.
The two-minute checklist
- Check the link. It should start with https://x.ai/bot/. Paste anything else into our link checker first.
- Read the job description on x.ai. Does it do one clear job? Does it say when it asks before acting?
- Look at the skills and routines. How often will it run? Each run uses your plan's usage.
- Note the access. Email, calendar, repos and chat apps are amber; money, publishing and deleting are red.
- Check the creator. Do they have other templates? A creator page with several useful bots is a good sign.
After you add it
- Run it once on demand before you enable the routine.
- Connect accounts one at a time, read-only first.
- Edit the instructions to remove anything you do not need — you own the copy.
- Remember the shared computer: what you connect for this Bot is reachable by your other Bots too.
Red flags
- Links on any domain other than x.ai, or shorteners that hide the destination.
- Instructions that tell the Bot to send, buy, publish or delete without asking you.
- Vague jobs (“does everything for your business”) with broad access.
- Requests to paste passwords or keys into chat — Bots sign in through the computer, not through you typing secrets.
How this directory helps
Every listing here shows an access rating derived from its public description, the schedule it describes, the date its link was last checked, and who shared it. The rating is a starting point, not a certification — the live configuration on x.ai is always the source of truth.
Frequently asked questions
Can the creator see what my copy does?
No. Adding a template creates an independent copy; nothing flows back to the creator.
Will the template update if the creator changes it?
Treat your copy as yours. Re-add the template if you want the creator's newer version.
